Researchers conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to try to identify and quantitatively assess the efficacy of iStent devices used concurrently with cataract surgery. Using weighted analysis, they found nearly 31% reduction in IOP at the 6- to 12-month point. In longer-term studies, IOP reductions of 30% and nearly 33% were noted in the 3- to 4-year and 5-year marks, respectively.
- These studies reported the decreased IOP and medication burden for glaucoma patients treated with the iStent device.
